Our current programs consist of the following:

• Providing identification cards to children in a program we call “Kid Pics.” The money for the equipment was donated by the Bock Family Foundation in Perry.  The hard plastic identification card has the child’s picture, height, weight, and parent’s information on it. The pictures are taken and the card is produced by our organization and given to the family in about 10 minutes.

• We sponsor and manage a “Shop With A Cop” program in the beginning of December. This program allows children from Dallas County to purchase gifts for their families with the assistance of a police officer from one of the following agencies: Dallas County Sheriff’s Office, Waukee Police Dept., Perry Police Dept., Adel Police Dept., De Soto Police Dept., Dallas Center Police Dept., Iowa Dept. of Transportation, and the Iowa State Patrol. This usually happens on the first or second Saturday of December and McDonalds on Jordan Creek Parkway provides the children with breakfast before heading to Walmart on Mills Civic Parkway. After the gifts are purchased, Benevolent members then assist with wrapping the gifts.

• Our organization maintains a Santa Claus suit that we loan out to other organizations for use. Our organization also uses the suit to provide Santa Claus appearances throughout Dallas County when requested at no charge.

• The week before Christmas we have a Food Basket program that provides meals to families. We solicited donations of money or food from private individuals along with corporate entities.

Past contributors have been:

 Tyson’s Fresh Meats – Perry, Hy-Vee – Perry, Fareway - Adel, Hy-Line International, and

Doug Bruce of Osmundson’s – Perry and many more.

The food is delivered to us the day before we deliver them to families and our volunteers spend the evening putting together the boxes and filling them with the food. The “baskets” contain: meat, a couple pork tenderloins and chops, several gallons of milk, loaves of bread, eggs, and a variety of can and boxed dry goods.

The Benevolent provides two $500 scholarships to 2 Dallas County high school seniors that will be attending college for Criminal Justice, Fire Sciences or EMT-Paramedic.

Upcoming goals for our programs:

• Maintaining and expanding of the above programs.

• Giving small monetary donations to victims of house fires, natural disasters, and other life changing events due to emergency situations.
