"Hopes and Dreams Should be Based on Ability, not Disability"
It is the mission of Dallas County Community Services to partner with community providers to assist individuals in identifying and overcoming barriers in order to live the life they choose.
Dallas County Community Services is guided by the vision that individuals with disabilities must have services and supports based on the following set of values:
Who Are We?
Dallas County Community Services serves as the Central Point of Coordination (CPC) office designated by the Dallas County Board of Supervisors. Our services are designed for individuals seeking funding from the County's Mental Health / Mental Retardation / Developmental Disabilities fund. We act as the gatekeeper to a countywide system of services and supports by taking applications, making eligibility decisions, evaluating the needs of individuals, and working to create and implement a service funding plan.
In addition, we are the Case Management Unit serving the service participants that have requested an array of countywide services and supports for mental health, mental retardation, developmental disabilities, and brain injury. Plus we serve as the office to obtain General Assistance from Dallas County including rent and transportation assistance or information regarding a referral to other human and social services agencies in Dallas County. Our department also coordinates the County’s funding for other human services, substance abuse, and the Dallas County Community Empowerment Area.
Services Management Plan
This plan is to be used as a guide for individuals seeking funding, their families, friends, and advocates and will explain how we provide, fund, and administer mental health and developmental disability services in Dallas County. It is also a guide for service providers, administrators, and others interested in providing services in Dallas County.
The policies and procedures stated within this manual describe how adult disability services are funded by Dallas County and how the system is managed. The planning and funding of services is an ongoing process that adapts to the changing needs of individuals and the system as a whole.
Whether you are applying for the first time, or asking for renewed funding for services, we want to continue to work closely with you. It is Dallas County's intention to ensure that services meet your particular strengths, abilities, priorities, and needs while being cost effective. Because resources and funding are limited, we cannot honor or fund every request for services or supports. Find the full report here.
